BASF to provide up to $1 million to support Hurricane Sandy relief

BASF today announced that it will donate up to $1 million to support Hurricane Sandy relief and recovery in the Northeast.


Through BASF Foundation USA , BASF will make a $250,000 cash donation among the Governor’s Funds in affected states. BASF Foundation USA will also match employee contributions to tax-exempt organizations (under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code) directly involved in Hurricane Sandy relief efforts up to an additional $250,000. Working with its customers, BASF will provide up to $500,000 worth of products to support re-building efforts.


"BASF will do everything we can to ease the suffering and speed the recovery of people devastated by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath," said Hans Engel, Chairman and CEO of BASF Corporation. "The lives and communities of our neighbors, employees and customers along the east coast have been severely affected. We consider supporting the relief and recovery efforts to be part of our company’s mission and purpose."


BASF Corporation's disaster relief effort will also include the following:

  • Establishing a program to provide short-term aid for the immediate needs of BASF employees seriously impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
  • Organizing a volunteer day for employees to participate in relief and recovery efforts.



Additionally, BASF employee groups, including Women in Business, the Asian Business Community and the African American Employee Group are conducting food and clothing drives to support the New York Cares Coat Drive and Jersey Cares.
