Our Eco-Efficiency Analysis is a rigorous tool for assessing the relative sustainability of products and processes on a scientific, comprehensive, comparative basis. This means a holistic assessment of economic and environmental impact over various lifecycle stages:
- Raw material extraction
- Energy production
- Use phase
- End-of-life (recycle or disposal)
The tool allows you to balance economy and ecology. Compare different products and processes. Support strategic decision making. Find the solution that meets your sustainability goals.
And it’s verified. Third-party validations of the methodology are conducted by the Rhineland Technical Surveillance Association (TÜV Rheinland) and NSF International NSF Protocol P-352, Validation and Verification of Eco-Efficiency Analyses Part A. Individual studies are verified by NSF International NSF Protocol P-352, Validation and Verification of Eco-Efficiency Analyses Part B and TÜV, PE International, DEKRA.

While the Eco-Efficiency Analysis tells us how products, processes and systems perform in a hypothetical situation based on real-life data, nothing beats physical proof of performance in the field.
Take, for example, our construction products. We use them when building or upgrading our own facilities.
Facilities like our new North American headquarters building in Florham Park, NJ. It attained an amazing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Double Platinum rating! It was only the fifth building in the United States to earn that distinction. And its rating is thanks in large part to its ELASTOSPRAY® spray-applied polyurethane foam (SPF) roof, NEOPOR® graphite-enhanced expandable polystyrene (EPS) insulation and ELASTOPAVE® polyurethane-based pervious pavement, among other contributions from the plastics and polyurethane performance materials portfolio.
That’s just one example of our LEED certified facilities. There are many more. And those facilities are strategically located across North America. That means reduced transportation costs and less fuel used to get our products from our sites to yours. Another sustainability strategy.
One thing all our facilities benefit from is our Verbund concept. Verbund is all about intelligent interlinking. Production plants. Energy flows. Infrastructure. The by-products of one plant are used as the starting materials of another. In this system, chemical processes consume less energy, produce higher product yields and conserve resources.
